Text & Writing
A private notepad that saves to your device, not a server.
Your notes are written to localStorage, a per-origin store inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted, so no server holds a copy and no account exists to be breached.
The trade is real and worth stating plainly: there is no backup. Clearing site data, using private browsing, or switching browser or device means the notes are not there.
That makes this the right tool for a scratchpad, a draft, a paste buffer or something you would rather not put on somebody else’s computer — and the wrong tool for anything you cannot afford to lose. Export regularly.
Local storage is typically capped around 5–10 MB per origin. That is enormous for text — roughly a million words — so you will not reach it by writing.
You can reach it by pasting base64 data or very large logs, and the browser will start refusing writes.
The notepad shows how much space is in use so a silent failure does not eat a note.
Syncing needs an account, a server, and a copy of your notes on it. That is a different product with a different risk profile, and it is the thing this deliberately does not do.
If you want your notes on two devices, export and move the file. It is less convenient and it keeps the guarantee intact.
The same reasoning runs through this whole site: the moment a tool needs a server, the promise that your content stays on your device stops being true.
In your browser’s local storage, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no account, and no copy exists anywhere else.
Yes, if you clear site data, use private browsing, or switch browser or device. There is no backup by design. Export to .txt or .md for anything you cannot afford to lose.
Yes. Once the page has loaded once, the service worker serves it offline and local storage works without a connection.
Local storage is typically 5–10 MB per site — around a million words of text. You will not hit it by writing, but pasting large data can. The tool shows current usage.
No, and that is deliberate. Syncing requires an account and a server copy of your notes, which is exactly the guarantee this tool exists to keep. Export the file and move it instead.
